The pop singer and the Swiss designer’s artistic director, Caroline Scheufele, collaborated to give the diamond-encrusted items a whimsical spin.
Mariah Carey has a jewelry line with Swiss luxury brand Chopard that was released in time for the 25th anniversary edition of her “Butterfly” album.
The 12 pieces in the “Happy Butterfly” series are described in a press release as having a “transparently openworked heart in which a dancing diamond nestles between two sapphire crystals” and featuring a butterfly made of “ethical rose and white gold.” The price range for bracelets, pendants, rings, and earrings is $6,330 to $23,500.
For its Mariah Carey collection, Chopard is also releasing a unique asymmetrical diamond-paved “Haute Joaillerie” set that includes a necklace, a pair of earrings, and a ring made with round-cut and heart-shaped diamonds and set in 18k white gold. The brand claims that the set is “certified ethical.” The co-signers of the pieces are Caroline Scheufele, co-president and artistic director of Chopard, and the artist. Price available upon request.
Mariah and I have been friends for many years and first connected through our love of jewelry and music. She performed at our party in Cannes in 2019, and we had always talked about designing together, said Scheufele.
The house’s designs are seen on red carpets at occasions like the Oscars and the Cannes Film Festival all around the world.
The Chopard “Happy Butterfly” collection, according to Scheufele, features a contemporary butterfly design together with the company’s renowned “Happy Diamonds,” which are floating stones that move with the wearer.
Since Mariah has a personal passion for unique pieces, we knew we wanted to do a few one-of-a-kind creations that would be truly exceptional. This led to an extraordinary diamond suite, Scheufele said.
With No. 1 songs like “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Carey, who has sold more than 200 million albums, sees the butterfly as a metaphor for expanding her wings following her divorce from former manager Tommy Mottola. She also wears a butterfly ring by Van Cleef & Arpels.
Serena Williams, a legendary tennis player, is another famous person who has unveiled a jewelry line.
